Two Tonne Tasmania STH Pinot Noir 2025 is a southern Tasmanian blend sourcing equal parts from the Derwent, Coal River and Huon Valley. This vintage marks the Huon Valley's debut in the STH cuvée, with fruit from the newly available Riverbell vineyard delivering riper, more structured character than previous releases. Crafted with minimal intervention, 10% whole bunch fermentation, gentle handling, and early pressing across all parcels the wine spent 11 months in oak. The result is a richer, plusher Pinot Noir with distinctive depth driven by cool-climate Huon fruit, balanced by the elegance of the Derwent and Coal River components. A benchmark southern Tasmanian Pinot Noir showcasing regional diversity and winemaking restraint.

Tasting Notes

STH (south) is sourced from the Derwent, Coal River and the Huon Valley's in southern Tasmania.
For the first time we see the Huon Valley make its debut in this cuvee, completing the trio of southern valleys.

A beautiful little site called Riverbell became available, and we jumped at the opportunity. Classically so cool down there, we had the luxury of a lovely warm season to kick off working with this site. This version is richer and plusher than the previous, and that grunt, maybe surprisingly is driven by the Huon fruit. All parcels were handled in a similar way, small amounts of whole bunch in each most (around 10% overall), lightly handled and pressed off early. The blend of valleys is around ⅓ each, 11 months in oak.

Derwent Valley

The Derwent Valley wine region, located to the north-west of Hobart, stretches from the lower reaches of the River Derwent at Granton to the scenic hills and valleys around Meadowbank.

The region's vineyards are perched on north-facing hillsides, which provide ideal sun exposure for grape growing. Known for its cool climate, the area primarily produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling, echoing Tasmania’s wider wine production focus.

Although once regarded as a marginal area for viticulture due to its cooler climate, the upper reaches of the Derwent Valley have recently gained recognition for producing stunning examples of cool-climate wines, reflecting the unique terroir of the region.
