Meet the Power Duo Behind Utzinger Wines!
This is where Matthias and Lauren’s love story began!
The rich topsoil contains large volumes of dolerite pebbles and ironstone gravel of volcanic origin which overlays a relatively heavy clay subsoil. They also source fruit from three local vineyards in the area where Matthias is also involved in the growing process. The vineyard honours their love of the planet, the creatures living on it and a common idea of true terroir wines. They care deeply for the environment and aim to protect it while producing the highest quality fruit. Utzinger Wines offers a diverse portfolio of wines, each crafted with maximum care and very little intervention.
Lauren and Matthias recently unveiled their stunning new cellar door, a modern yet warmly inviting space that perfectly complements the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Visitors are greeted with panoramic views of the vineyard, creating a serene backdrop for small guided tastings. The design seamlessly blends rustic charm with contemporary elements, featuring natural materials that reflect the winery's commitment to sustainability. At the cellar door, guests can sample a curated selection of Utzinger’s finest wines, guided by Lauren and Matthias themselves, who share the stories and craftsmanship behind each bottle. It’s not just a tasting room; it’s an experience that invites wine lovers to immerse themselves in the world of Utzinger, fostering a deeper appreciation for the art of winemaking.
