Shiraz
Tasmania's cool climate turns Shiraz into something quite different from what you'd expect, lighter, more fragrant and more elegant than the wines the variety is known for elsewhere. Pepper, red fruit and fine tannins take centre stage, in wines built for the dinner table rather than the show bench. Still a small category on the island, but a genuinely exciting one.

The Roter Satz is Utzinger doing what Utzinger does best, taking West Tamar fruit seriously and getting out of its way.
A blend of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, all hand-picked and fully destemmed before a wild ferment and extended time on skins. Basket pressed into a mix of old and new French oak, then left unfined and unfiltered. The result is a wine that’s honest about what it is and where it comes from.
Dark crimson in the glass, with blackcurrant, cooked plum, sour cherry, vanilla, and white pepper on the nose. The palate is full-bodied with real volume and a soft attack giving way to a generous mid-palate and a long, structured finish underpinned by firm young tannins. It’s drinking well now, but give it a few years in bottle and it’ll show you something else entirely.
Sealed with cork. Unfined, unfiltered. Built for the patient.
Looking for more than a 1 one off bottle?
Can't choose between multiple favourites?
Or looking to broaden your horizons?
Every glass, a different Tasmania
Cool nights, mineral soils, and a climate winemakers elsewhere would kill for. It's why Tasmanian wine tastes the way it does, and why one variety here can taste nothing like the same variety made anywhere else.
Made in small batches, on purpose
These aren't wines built for supermarket shelves. Most come from producers making a few hundred cases a year, which means what's in stock now might not be again.
Pick a style, not just a label
Whatever you're drawn to, there's a Tasmanian producer doing it well. Explore the range and find the version that's yours.
