Caledon
Caledon is a genuinely new chapter in the Coal River Valley's story. A young family bought what was a sheep farm just outside Richmond in 2018 and planted eleven hectares in 2019, sourcing vine material from respected neighbours including Spring Vale and Craigie Knowe. The vineyard is planted around the property's existing gum trees on dolerite-derived soil, and the wine itself is made in close collaboration with the Lyne family at Spring Vale on the East Coast, who mentored the Caledon team through their very first vintage. A genuinely single-site operation with sweeping views back over the valley to kunanyi.

The Reserve is Caledon's most considered release, deep ruby red in the glass, with inviting aromas of dark cherry, raspberry, subtle spice, and toasty oak. Concentrated red fruits unfold on the palate, with ripe, fine-grained tannins providing a balanced structure and lasting finish. A wine that rewards those who seek out the quieter corners of Tasmania's Coal River Valley. Pair with duck, lamb, or aged hard cheese. Drink now through 2031.
Caledon's Coal River Valley Chardonnay is a wine of genuine complexity and approachability. Citrus blossom, white peach, and honeydew melon on the nose, with subtle cheese soufflé notes from wild fermentation and toasty oak adding depth. Stone fruit on the palate, brightened by refreshing lime and grapefruit acidity. Balanced, vibrant, and easy to love. Pair with fresh seafood, roast chicken, or light pasta. Drink now through 2029.
Caledon's Coal River Valley estate produces Pinot with a quiet elegance that's easy to love. Brilliant deep ruby red in the glass, with redcurrant, cherry, cocoa, and clove on the nose. The palate offers a graceful balance of concentrated red fruits and fresh ripe red apple, supported by finely woven tannins. Refined and approachable, a wine that earns its place at any table. Pair with roast chicken, duck, or mushroom pasta. Drink now through 2029.
