Apogee is the culmination of nearly 50 years of Tasmanian winemaking experience from Dr Andrew Pirie, the man who founded Pipers Brook Vineyard back in 1974. At his 2-hectare single-vineyard site near Lebrina, Andrew focuses purely on traditional method sparkling wine using classic Champagne varieties, alongside small runs of table wine. It's a project built on decades of studying Tasmania's terroir, aiming to prove that Tasmanian sparkling wine can go head to head with the best in the world.

Every region in Tasmania grows something a little differently. Building a bundle around one region, say the Tamar Valley or the East Coast, is a way to really get to know a place, its soil, its climate, its particular way of making Pinot Noir or Riesling. It's less about variety and more about depth.

Bright ruby Pinot Noir with elegant structure and a full, supple mouthfeel. Red berry and summer pudding aromatics lead to a palate of blueberry and raspberry, finished with subtle toasty oak. Mild tannins and integrated oak create roundness and approachability now, while the wine's tannin and acid framework supports extended aging for up to 10 years. Expect the wine to fill out beautifully with aeration and develop complexity over the next 12 months.
The Apogee Deluxe Vintage Brut 2022 is a sparkling wine that epitomises elegance and balance, showcasing Tasmania’s cool-climate winemaking at its finest. Pale gold hues reflect youthful vitality and hint at excellent ageing potential, while the fine mousse is persistent, leaving a small collar of foam.
On the nose, expect an initial burst of yeastiness followed by lifted floral aromas of white flowers, biscuity yeast, and a mineral sea breeze or oyster shell note, with subtle hints of jasmine.
The palate is lean, refreshing, and finely balanced by the vibrant acidity typical of Tasmania, leading to a dry, clean finish.
