Tolpuddle Pinot Noir 2025
(0)
$120.00
*** MAX 2 BOTTLES PER CUSTOMER ***
Tolpuddle is one of Tasmania's most revered vineyards, and this 2025 is a reminder of why. Dark, brooding fruit on the nose, lifted by aniseed and pepper aromatics that are unmistakably Tolpuddle. The palate is concentrated and opulent, with fine integrated tannins that extend gracefully through the finish. Complex savoury spice notes and seamless acidity keep everything in perfect balance. Very limited stock — this one won't last. Pair with duck confit, venison, or aged hard cheese. Drink now through 2034.

Aroma
Dark fruit leads, layered with baking spice and star anise, while violets add a lifted, aromatic note that balances the wine’s depth and density.
Palette
Dark fruit and spice unfold seamlessly across a plush mid-palate. Fine tannins woven with savoury spice give structure and support, leading to a long, composed finish with lingering dark spice.
Pairings
The dark fruit, spice and fine tannins suit roast duck, slow-braised lamb shoulder or char siu pork. Mushroom risotto, wild mushroom pasta and aged hard cheeses also work well, as do richer dishes like beef cheek or venison.
Wine Making
All fruit was hand-picked and fermented as a mix of whole berries and whole bunches in open wooden and stainless steel fermenters, with gentle plunging. The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak, about one third of it new. From the 2025 vintage, which had a cool, dry run into veraison and slow, even ripening that kept acidity high.
Meet the owners
Tolpuddle is widely regarded as one of Australia's great single vineyards. Planted in 1988 in the Coal River Valley, the site quietly supplied fruit to some of the country's most famous labels, including Penfolds' Yattarna, before Adelaide Hills winemakers Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith stumbled across it on a Tasmanian road trip in 2011 and fell for it on the spot. The name honours the Tolpuddle Martyrs, transported convicts who once worked land nearby. Farmed with care and made with a light touch, Tolpuddle's Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are released annually via waitlist and consistently rank among the finest in the country.

Coal River Valley
About the region
Tucked into the valleys surrounding the historic town of Richmond, the Coal River Valley is Tasmania's sunniest wine region. Low rainfall, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes off the Tasman Sea come together to create conditions that are about as close to perfect as it gets for grape growing. It shows in the wines: Chardonnay with real texture and depth, Pinot Noir with elegance and structure, Riesling with precision, and sparkling wines that hold their own against the best in the world.
