Stefano Lubiana Primavera Pinot Noir 2025

(1)

$50.00

The 2025 Primavera Pinot Noir is a savoury, village-style take on the variety. Fragrant stock flowers, musk, spice and vanilla lead into a hint of dark citrus chinotto, while the palate is concentrated yet composed, with brooding black cherry fruit, firm mineral tannins and a plush texture. Layers of blackberry and raspberry carry it to a long, balanced finish. Pair with roast duck and cherry jus, wild mushroom risotto or slow-roasted spring lamb.

Aroma

The aroma is undeniably Pinot Noir, fragrant stock flowers mingle with amiable musk, spice and vanilla, finishing with a hint of dark citrus chinotto. Compared with the bright summer berry characters of the 2024 vintage, the 2025 offers greater savoury complexity and aromatic depth.

Palette

The palate is concentrated yet beautifully composed. Brooding black cherry fruit is framed by firm, mineral tannins, all wrapped in a generous, plush texture. Layers of blackberry and raspberry bring energy and drive, carrying the wine through to a long and balanced finish.

Pairings

Pair with roast duck and cherry jus, wild mushroom risotto or slow-roasted spring lamb, and let its savoury depth and mineral tannins shine alongside earthy, rich flavours.

Wine Making

Our Primavera Pinot Noir is mostly wild fermented, de-stemmed and taken off skins early to retain it's bright flavour. The grapes are 100% hand picked, hand sorted and fermented with own yeasts and some whole bunches. Basket pressed after about 3 weeks. The result is a beautiful, soft red wine with natural medium body and wonderful drinkability.

Variety: 100% Pinot Noir

Vineyard: Lubiana managed Derwent & Huon Valley vineyards

Geology: Mix of two terroirs, grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel

Meet the owners

Stefano Lubiana is one of the most significant names in Tasmanian wine. Fifth-generation winemaker Steve Lubiana and his wife Monique planted their Granton vineyard on the Derwent River in 1990, drawn by Tasmania's potential for serious sparkling wine. In 2013 the property became Tasmania's first certified biodynamic vineyard, and it remains one of very few in the state today. Now with son Marco carrying the family tradition into a sixth generation, Stefano Lubiana produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and traditional method sparkling of real depth, wines that have picked up Best Biodynamic Wine in the World honours on multiple occasions.

About the region

The Derwent Valley follows the river north from Hobart through some of Tasmania's most beautiful farming country. It's a region of contrasts, warm days, cold nights, and a long growing season that builds flavour slowly and deliberately. Home to some of Tasmania's most thoughtful producers, the Derwent Valley is known for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling of real elegance and precision.
