Aroma
The colour is a beautiful pale salmon, and the nose is full of fresh strawberries, red cherries, and a hint of watermelon.
Palette
This Rosé is a cracker. The palate is crisp and refreshing, like biting in to a fresh red apple, followed with a lovely dry finish. It’s got a nice line of acidity and a tiny touch of residual sugar (0.75g/L) that gives it a bit of roundness. It’s the perfect drop for a sunny afternoon.
Pairings
This crisp and refreshing Rosé is incredibly versatile, making it the perfect drop for a sunny afternoon. It pairs exceptionally well with Mediterranean cuisine, such as salade niçoise or olives and feta. It is also excellent with grilled fish, prawns, or light charcuterie and summer salads.
Wine Making
Our 2025 Cooinda Vale Rosé was made from machine-picked Pinot Noir grapes from Block 1 on the 21st of March. The grapes were gently pressed to a tank, and the juice was fermented at a cool 14°C for 12 days using a cultured yeast. We kept the wine on its light lees until bottling to build a bit of texture. It was bottled on the 7th and 22nd of July, 2025.
Meet the owners
Pooley Wines has been a Coal River Valley institution since 1985, when Denis and Margaret Pooley planted the first vines at Cooinda Vale. Three generations on, the family now farms two sites, Cooinda Vale and the heritage-listed Butcher's Hill at Richmond, and has built a reputation as one of the finest producers of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling in the country. Anna Pooley, granddaughter of the founders, now leads winemaking alongside her husband Justin Bubb, carrying forward a family story built on patience, place and three generations of care.

Coal River Valley
About the region
Tucked into the valleys surrounding the historic town of Richmond, the Coal River Valley is Tasmania's sunniest wine region. Low rainfall, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes off the Tasman Sea come together to create conditions that are about as close to perfect as it gets for grape growing. It shows in the wines: Chardonnay with real texture and depth, Pinot Noir with elegance and structure, Riesling with precision, and sparkling wines that hold their own against the best in the world.
