that lead into a full, fleshy palate. It is fruit sweet and supple with abundant tannins and layers of flavour. A highly structured wine which should live long.

Pairings

The structure and tannin suit roast lamb, duck, or a rich mushroom dish — something with enough weight to match the wine.

Meet the owners

Lisdillon is a working sheep farm on Tasmania's East Coast with a history stretching back to 1830, complete with convict-built cottages and a genuinely dramatic backstory involving a 19th-century murder mystery. The Cotton family (the same family behind nearby Kelvedon) has owned the property since the 1960s, and only turned part of it over to viticulture in more recent years. Set on 5km of private coastline at Little Swanport, Lisdillon produces cool-climate Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc that carry the salt air and history of the place in every glass.

East Coast

About the region

Stretching from St Helens in the north to Bream Creek in the south, Tasmania's East Coast is as breathtaking as it is bountiful. A milder climate than the rest of the state, spectacular coastal scenery, and over 300 hectares under vine make this one of Tasmania's most exciting wine regions. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the stars, but the East Coast also turns out outstanding Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, wines with a freshness and purity that's genuinely hard to find anywhere else.
