Aroma
Fresh and inviting aromas of ripe pear, crisp apple, and citrus blossom, with delicate floral notes of white lily and hints of stone fruit, like nectarine and apricot.
Palette
Pale straw with subtle golden highlights, hinting at the wine’s richness. On the palate, this Pinot Gris is smooth and round, with juicy flavors of green apple, honeydew melon, and a touch of lemon zest. Its mouthfeel is light yet slightly textured, showcasing a perfect balance between fruit-forward sweetness and vibrant acidity. The finish is clean and refreshing, with a touch of minerality and a lingering note of ripe citrus, making it crisp and satisfying.
Pairings
The textural weight suits richer dishes than a typical light white think roast chicken, creamy pasta, or pan-seared white fish with butter sauce. Also holds up well to soft cheeses.
Wine Making
Fruit sourced from growers on the west tamar, we always pick gris in two waves. The first parcel comes from Chartley, just as flavour accumulates, some time soaking on skins prior to pressing off to chase the flavour. This mostly goes to barrel, a mix of barrique and puncheon, all seasoned, this is more or less the stock cube for our wine, heaps of texture.
The later picks all go to stainless, nice cold & steady ferments, looking for classical pristine Tasmanian style here. Everything stayed on lees for around 3 months before assembling and resting a little longer on light lees until the time was right to head to bottle.
More textural and generous in flavour than the previous year, somewhat of a hallmark of the season.
Meet the owners
Two Tonne Tasmania takes its name from its very first vintage, when winemaker Ricky Evans was given two tonnes of Pinot Noir fruit in exchange for a temporary winemaking gig back in 2013. After honing his craft under Ed Carr at Bay of Fires, Ricky launched his own label with a philosophy he still holds to today, small parcels, big love. Centred on his own Woodlawn Park vineyard in the Tamar Valley, with fruit also drawn from the East, South and North coasts, the range is all about capturing Tasmania's subregional diversity with precision and restraint.

Tamar Valley
About the region
The Tamar Valley is Tasmania's oldest wine region, stretching from Launceston to the Bass Strait in the state's north. Its cool maritime climate and iron-rich soils create ideal growing conditions, and the numbers speak for themselves, home to over 30 family-owned wineries, the Tamar Valley accounts for more than a third of Tasmania's total wine production. Viticulture here goes back a long way too, with the first commercial vineyard established in the mid-1800s at Windermere, its cuttings even helping establish some of South Australia's earliest vineyards. Today, the Tamar Valley is celebrated for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and sparkling wines, each one reflecting the region's exceptional terroir and winemaking heritage.
