Wine Making

Crafted from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier, and 5% Chardonnay, this vintage sparkling cuvée reflects the exceptional cool-climate conditions of southern Tasmania. The long growing season in this pristine environment allows the grapes to develop pure, concentrated fruit flavours and retain vibrant natural acidity. The wine is produced using the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle), with secondary fermentation in the bottle to create fine bubbles and a rich, creamy texture. Extended time on lees further enhances the wine's complexity, contributing to the subtle toasty notes and balanced freshness.

Meet the owners

Frogmore Creek began life as Meadowbank Estate in 2000, before a rebrand in 2012 turned it into one of the largest and most awarded cool climate wineries in Southern Tasmania. Based in the Coal River Valley just outside Hobart, the winery draws on two estate vineyards and a long-serving winemaking team, including chief winemaker Alain Rousseau, who has been with the brand for two decades. Frogmore Creek produces wine under its own label as well as the Forty-Two Degrees South range, with a "let the fruit do the talking" approach that keeps the focus on Tasmania's cool climate character.

Coal River Valley

About the region

Tucked into the valleys surrounding the historic town of Richmond, the Coal River Valley is Tasmania's sunniest wine region. Low rainfall, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes off the Tasman Sea come together to create conditions that are about as close to perfect as it gets for grape growing. It shows in the wines: Chardonnay with real texture and depth, Pinot Noir with elegance and structure, Riesling with precision, and sparkling wines that hold their own against the best in the world.
