About the Vineyard

The Five Bob Vineyard, established in 2018, lies along the northern edge of our property, and enjoys breathtaking vistas across to Bruny Island and the majestic Kunanyi to the north. Our vines - Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Riesling, - were planted in 2017 and are coming into their own, and benefiting from cool clean air, fertile, doleritic soils and fresh clean water from the nearby streams. At 43°S
our mild summers, long autumn days and an extended ripening window provide the opportunity to create exceptional wines. Today, these wines are crafted by Johnny Hughes, of nearby Mewstone Winery. Through this collaboration, we’re able to bring you wines that embody the essence of our land and the passion of his craft.

Huon Valley

The Huon Valley is Tasmania’s southernmost wine region, and by extension, the southernmost wine region in all of Australia.

Following the winding path of the Huon River from Lake Pedder to the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, this region offers a unique cool-climate growing environment. The north-facing vineyards are sheltered from the cold southerly winds, benefiting instead from a maritime-influenced climate.

The gentle warmth of summer allows for a slow, extended ripening season, resulting in high-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wines.

This extended growing period enhances the complexity and finesse of the wines produced here, making the Huon Valley an ideal region for crafting elegant, cool-climate varieties.
