Town Pinot Noir 2024

$42.00

Town Pinot Noir is charismatic, inviting and understated on the nose, opening into a palate that is exuberant, brooding and decadent. Hopelessly romantic, it’s made for the unapologetic appreciators of long, sweet afternoons. The fruit comes from Deviot and Legana, with a small whole bunch inclusion, and after fermentation the wine was pressed to French oak barrels, around 20% of them new. Barrel selection and blending took place roughly seven months after the oak was introduced. Rosemary focaccia is a lovely match for its depth and warmth.

Meet the owners

Sourced from the sweeping, cool-climate riverbanks of the Tamar Valley (kanamaluka), TOWN is an honest reflection of time and place. Crafted in small, boutique batches, this wine captures the rugged beauty and shifting skies of northern Tasmania. It is born from quirky barrels, minimal intervention, and a deep respect for the land.

Tamar Valley

About the region

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania's oldest wine region, stretching from Launceston to the Bass Strait in the state's north. Its cool maritime climate and iron-rich soils create ideal growing conditions, and the numbers speak for themselves, home to over 30 family-owned wineries, the Tamar Valley accounts for more than a third of Tasmania's total wine production. Viticulture here goes back a long way too, with the first commercial vineyard established in the mid-1800s at Windermere, its cuttings even helping establish some of South Australia's earliest vineyards. Today, the Tamar Valley is celebrated for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and sparkling wines, each one reflecting the region's exceptional terroir and winemaking heritage.
