Meet the owners

Bangor is a small family vineyard with 8 hectares of hand tended vines: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. At 42°53' South it’s one of the most southerly vineyards in Tasmania, which makes it a true cool climate site. It overlooks the seaside town of Dunalley and Blackman Bay. The soil is well drained clay loam over ancient dolerite, and the aspect is northerly. Being coastal, it isn’t prone to frost. It sits within the 6,200-hectare Bangor property, which the Dunbabin family has farmed since the 1890s. The property includes native forest, wetlands and 35 km of coastline.

East Coast

About the region

Stretching from St Helens in the north to Bream Creek in the south, Tasmania's East Coast is as breathtaking as it is bountiful. A milder climate than the rest of the state, spectacular coastal scenery, and over 300 hectares under vine make this one of Tasmania's most exciting wine regions. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the stars, but the East Coast also turns out outstanding Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, wines with a freshness and purity that's genuinely hard to find anywhere else.
