Pooley's Pinot Grigio is bright, precise, and full of life. Citrus blossom, candy apple, and yuzu on the nose with a lively, aromatic bouquet that draws you in. White peach and apricot on the palate, with subtle green apple and a hint of beeswax adding quiet complexity. Strong acidity and persistent length make this a wine that lingers well after the glass is empty. Pair with fresh seafood, light pasta, or a simple salad. Drink now through 2027.

Pairings

This wine's crisp and refreshing nature makes it a perfect match for light dishes. Think fresh seafood, like grilled fish or shrimp, or a simple salad with a light dressing. It also goes well with soft cheeses such as goat cheese or mozzarella.

Wine Making

The fruit was chilled to 5 degrees then whole-bunch pressed to tank. Cold settled and racked to tank for ferment. On fine lees for 3 months.

Meet the owners

Pooley Wines has been a Coal River Valley institution since 1985, when Denis and Margaret Pooley planted the first vines at Cooinda Vale. Three generations on, the family now farms two sites, Cooinda Vale and the heritage-listed Butcher's Hill at Richmond, and has built a reputation as one of the finest producers of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling in the country. Anna Pooley, granddaughter of the founders, now leads winemaking alongside her husband Justin Bubb, carrying forward a family story built on patience, place and three generations of care.

About the region

Tucked into the valleys surrounding the historic town of Richmond, the Coal River Valley is Tasmania's sunniest wine region. Low rainfall, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes off the Tasman Sea come together to create conditions that are about as close to perfect as it gets for grape growing. It shows in the wines: Chardonnay with real texture and depth, Pinot Noir with elegance and structure, Riesling with precision, and sparkling wines that hold their own against the best in the world.
