Wine Making

Crafted from handpicked grapes grown in Tasmania’s cool-climate East Coast vineyards, the 2024 Bream Creek Riesling was fermented in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant fruit character and hallmark minerality. Minimal intervention in the winery allowed the natural acidity and purity of the fruit to shine through. This Riesling reflects Bream Creek’s commitment to producing wines that express the unique qualities of their terroir. With its high natural acidity, this wine is perfect for long-term cellaring, capable of developing complex tertiary characteristics over the next 10-15 years.

Meet the owners

Bream Creek is one of Tasmania's true pioneers, planted in 1974 on the state's East Coast when the local wine industry barely existed. Fred Peacock, one of Tasmania's most respected viticulturists, took over the property in 1990 and expanded the Pinot Noir plantings while introducing Sauvignon Blanc and Schönburger, among the first commercial plantings of that rare German variety in the Southern Hemisphere. Overlooking Marion Bay, where Abel Tasman first landed in 1642, Bream Creek's vines include some of the oldest Riesling in the state, and the winery has picked up 18 trophies and hundreds of show medals along the way.

Stretching from St Helens in the north to Bream Creek in the south, Tasmania's East Coast is as breathtaking as it is bountiful. A milder climate than the rest of the state, spectacular coastal scenery, and over 300 hectares under vine make this one of Tasmania's most exciting wine regions. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the stars, but the East Coast also turns out outstanding Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, wines with a freshness and purity that's genuinely hard to find anywhere else.
