Meet the owners
Lake Barrington is the oldest vineyard in Tasmania's North West, planted in 1984 by Dr Roger Taylor on the shores of its namesake lake. The site has become known almost entirely for one wine, Alexandra, a traditional method sparkling matured on lees for seven years and named after the Taylors' daughter, a wine that's picked up medals nearly every vintage since 1993. Set against a backdrop of Mount Roland and within an hour of Cradle Mountain, it's one of the most picturesque vineyard settings in the state, and one of the very few in Australia dedicated almost entirely to sparkling wine.

About the region
Wild wilderness, ancient rainforests, rugged mountains and windswept coasts, this is Tasmania's West Coast. It's the smallest and newest wine region on the island, home to just a handful of producers making cool climate wines of genuine character. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris are the varieties that thrive here, shaped by one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.
