Aroma

Honeysuckle, citrus zest, fresh strawberries, with complex notes of nougat and roasted nuts from extended lees ageing.

Palette

Balanced with delicate fruit flavours, creamy texture, and refreshing acidity. Long and refined, with a fine balance of creaminess and freshness.

Pairings

A perfect match with natural oysters, drizzled with the wine instead of lemon, or fritto misto with lemon aioli.

Wine Making

This 66% Chardonnay and 34% Pinot Noir blend is crafted using gentle whole bunch pressing and cool fermentation to preserve the purity of the fruit.

Undergoing 100% malolactic fermentation and extended ageing on lees after bottle fermentation, this Cuvée is complex and refined.

The extended lees contact enhances the wine’s texture and adds layers of complexity, creating a wine that is both stylish and sophisticated.

Meet the owners

Jansz was Tasmania's first taste of serious sparkling wine ambition. Originally planted in 1975 as Heemskerk, the Pipers River vineyard caught the eye of Champagne house Louis Roederer in 1986, who partnered on Tasmania's first traditional method vintage sparkling. The Hill-Smith family, with over 165 years in Australian wine, bought the property in the late 1990s and renamed it Jansz after the Dutch explorer who first sighted Tasmania. Grown in the heart of what's known locally as "Sparkling Tasmania," Jansz's wines are made under a philosophy the winery calls Méthode Tasmanoise, its own take on Champagne's classic method, shaped entirely by the island's climate.

Pipers River & Pipers Brook

About the region

Established in 1974 by Dr Andrew Pirie, Pipers River and Pipers Brook is the region that put Tasmanian sparkling wine on the map. A climate that mirrors Champagne, hilly terrain, and some of Tasmania's most prestigious producers come together here to create sparkling wines of extraordinary finesse. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are just as at home, producing wines of real depth, complexity and cool climate elegance.
