Aroma

This wine has an alluring, complex aroma of secondary Pinot Noir characters.

Palette

Potpourri and baked shortbread features on the nose and palate. The savoury character of the wine is framed beautifully by firm phenolics, rich texture and a long seamless palate.

Pairings

The richness and savoury complexity suit charcuterie, soft cheeses, or something a little indulgent — smoked salmon or a festive spread would work well.

Wine Making

The grapes for our Vintage Sparkling Rosé were whole bunch pressed, wild fermented followed by full malo, with tiraging in November 2016. Nine years aging on lees and a low dosage of less than 4 grams allows the voluptuous flavours of the fruit to shine through. Crafted using 100% Pinot Noir grapes and made in the traditional method, the Vintage Sparkling Rosé is a perfect expression of the balance between the primary fruit flavours as well as the autolysis characters achieved by extended time on lees.

Meet the owners

Delamere is one of the true pioneers of Pipers Brook, planted back in 1982 and among the oldest vineyards in the region. Husband and wife team Shane Holloway and Fran Austin took over the property in 2007, bringing serious sparkling wine credentials with them, Fran had worked alongside Ed Carr on the famed Arras label and later as head winemaker at Bay of Fires. Grown exclusively to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on rich ironstone soil, Delamere is a genuine grower producer, 100% family owned, grown, made and bottled on site.

About the region

Established in 1974 by Dr Andrew Pirie, Pipers River and Pipers Brook is the region that put Tasmanian sparkling wine on the map. A climate that mirrors Champagne, hilly terrain, and some of Tasmania's most prestigious producers come together here to create sparkling wines of extraordinary finesse. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are just as at home, producing wines of real depth, complexity and cool climate elegance.
