Home Hill
Home Hill Landslide Pinot Noir 2024 (Huon Valley)
(0)
$38.00
There are wines that show you a region, and then there are wines that show you a single piece of ground. The Landslide is the latter. From Home Hill's most prized Huon Valley block, this 2024 is darker and more brooding than the Estate, dark chocolate, damson plum, and liquorice on the nose, with a depth that takes time to fully reveal itself. Eight months in oak has added structure and gravitas without softening its edges. The palate is dense and layered, with firm tannins and a finish that goes on and on. This is a wine to cellar, to save for a special occasion, or to open now with something worthy of it. Pair with slow roasted venison, beef short rib, or aged hard cheese. Drink now through 2035.

Palette
The name Landslide comes from a landslip that occurred on our property thirty years ago. The middle palate has bright acidity, & seductive berry flavours. Juicy in the mouth with rich sweet fruit & spice. Easy drinking, gentle soft tannins & a long layered silky finish. The wine has been on oak for 8 months.
Pairings
Suits roasted meats, game or mushroom-based dishes. There is enough richness in the wine to stand up to hearty cooking without overwhelming lighter fare.
Wine Making
The wine was aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, with 2% new oak, to subtly enhance its structure without overwhelming the fruit. This careful oak integration allows the wine to retain its elegant profile and balance, while ensuring the soft tannins and savoury finish are beautifully framed.
Meet the owners
Home Hill began as a hobby for Terry and Rosemary Bennett, who planted their first vines on an old apple orchard in the Huon Valley back in 1991. What started with a handful of hectares of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and the rare Sylvaner grape grew into one of Australia's most decorated small wineries, taking out the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy in 2015 for their Kelly's Reserve Pinot Noir. Now a genuine family affair with son Sean alongside Terry in the vineyard, Home Hill remains grounded in the same quiet, unhurried patch of Tasmania's coolest wine region.

Huon Valley
About the region
Deep in Tasmania's south, the Huon Valley is one of the island's most dramatic wine regions, steep hillsides, ancient apple orchards, and a cool, wet climate that really pushes grapes to their limits. That challenge is exactly what gives the wines their intensity and character. Pinot Noir thrives here, producing wines with dark fruit, earthy complexity and a structure built for the cellar. A region for anyone after something genuinely different.
