Frankcomb
Frankcomb Pinot Noir 2023
(0)
$52.00
Frankcomb is a small, family-run estate in the Huon Valley and this Pinot wears that provenance with pride. Vibrant deep ruby in the glass, with lifted red berries, spice, and subtle French oak on the nose. The palate is rich and round, brimming with lively raspberry and cherry fruit. Well structured tannins provide grip and complexity, while excellent length rounds out a beautifully balanced wine. Pair with duck, lamb, or a Sunday roast. Drink now through 2030.

Aroma
Aroma is lifted with red berry fruits, spice and subtle hints of French oak.
Palette
Nice vibrant, deep ruby colour. Palate is rich and round with lively raspberry and cherry fruit characters. The wine is nicely structured with chalky, succulent tannin and good length of flavour.
Pairings
Frankcomb Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom dishes, pork, and earthy flavours, with its elegant red fruit, savoury complexity, and balanced acidity complementing both rich and delicate foods.
Wine Making
Hand picked in late April-early May 2023. Around 5% whole bunches were put in fermenter with the rest of the Pinot which was gently destemmed. Approximately five day cold soak. Wild fermentation then drained and pressed to tank for several days after primary ferment. The wine was then transferred into French oak barriques for ten months of maturation. The wine was then transferred from barrel to be blended in tank, gently filtered and bottled.
13.10% Alc Vol, 7.80 Standard Drinks
Vegan.
Meet the owners
Frankcomb grew out of a family of fruit growers in the Huon Valley, Tasmania's southernmost wine region. Long before wine entered the picture, the family were experimenting with truffles and planting one of the state's first commercial cherry orchards. A curiosity about grapes led to a vineyard in 2015, and after years spent growing fruit for other winemakers, the family decided the quality deserved its own label. Made a stone's throw from the vineyard, Frankcomb wines are fermented and matured in small batches, clone by clone, to capture the best possible expression of each vintage.

Huon Valley
About the region
Deep in Tasmania's south, the Huon Valley is one of the island's most dramatic wine regions, steep hillsides, ancient apple orchards, and a cool, wet climate that really pushes grapes to their limits. That challenge is exactly what gives the wines their intensity and character. Pinot Noir thrives here, producing wines with dark fruit, earthy complexity and a structure built for the cellar. A region for anyone after something genuinely different.
