Aroma

Atom Wines Syrah shows aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, cracked pepper, violet, spice, and subtle savoury notes with a refined cool-climate character.

Palette

A warmer than normal season in the Coal Valley allowed for perfect ripeness, this Syrah shows all the signs of cool climate elegance for this variety. Ripe plums, currants, olives and notes of pepper are the showcase of this wine, which has been bottled after spending 12 months in first class French oak, 25% of which was new. Textural and beautifully balanced it will have you wanting more. Very limited quantities available.

Pairings

Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled meats, duck, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses, with its dark fruit, peppery spice, and savoury complexity complementing rich and hearty flavours.

Wine Making

We are wine producers who source premium fruit from across Tasmania to craft our signature blends. Our fruit comes from several regions, including a small patch on the East Coast, the Coal Valley, and the Cradle Coast. All fruit is pressed at Ghost Rock Vineyard, located in the Cradle Coast region.

Meet the owners

Atom is a small family label from Rich and Rach, who describe themselves as the nucleus with friends and family as the electrons, a fitting metaphor for a wine born out of connection. Rich grew up on a mixed farming property in Tasmania's Southern Midlands, and though he came to wine later in life, working alongside some of the state's best growers gave him the access and knowledge to make something genuinely his own. Sourced from the North West Coast and Tamar Valley, Atom's Pinot Noir leans into red cherry and blueberry with a warm spice edge.

About the region

Wild wilderness, ancient rainforests, rugged mountains and windswept coasts, this is Tasmania's West Coast. It's the smallest and newest wine region on the island, home to just a handful of producers making cool climate wines of genuine character. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris are the varieties that thrive here, shaped by one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.
