The Glenayr Shiraz is a wine that rewards patience and those who open it now. Dark red in the glass, with enticing aromas of plums, rhubarb, and dark pepper, balanced by delicate spice and toast. The palate offers impressive concentration of ripe fruit, seamlessly integrated with soft, silky tannins. Built to evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years, but already showing real depth and character. Pair with slow-roasted lamb, beef short rib, or hearty winter dishes. Drink now through 2036.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Deep plummy notes, rhubarb, and a touch of dark pepper with hints of subtle spice and toast.

Winemaking

Crafted from carefully selected Shiraz grapes, The Glenayr Shiraz 2021 benefits from Tasmania’s cool-climate conditions, which allow for slow and even ripening. The fruit is handpicked and fermented in small batches to preserve the wine’s natural vibrancy and depth.
Post-fermentation, the wine undergoes extended maturation in French oak barrels, adding complexity and subtle toasted notes. This careful process results in a Shiraz with refined structure, intense fruit concentration, and excellent ageing potential.
The winemaking team at Glenayr focuses on minimal intervention to let the pure expression of the fruit and terroir shine through.

About the Vineyard

Family owned, the GlenAyr Vineyard in Richmond, Tasmania, was established in the Coal River Valley in 1975, the second vineyard in this area.

The original old vines still produce fruit for many of our wines today and is one of the reasons we can consistently produce quality complex wines.

We are a small batch, exclusive, boutique vineyard located in one of the best wine producing regions in Tasmania .
