Historically Clover Hill has followed a traditional pathway of vintage and non-vintage Methode Traditionnelle sparkling wines. But are forging a new path. We believe the most critical elements of sparkling wine are distinctive styles, consistently produced which enables consumers to develop a deep understanding and trust in our brand.

Multi-Vintage is a story of complexity in our base wines. Across vintages we use four different techniques to hold reserve wines, giving our winemakers more creative freedom, resulting in more expressive wines. Our reserve wine approach preserves freshness and character and provides our winemaking team with the ultimate conditions to deliver our house style.

Meet the owners

Clover Hill was founded in 1986 for a single purpose, to make sparkling wine that could compete with Champagne itself. The Goelet family, owners of Victoria's Taltarni, searched extensively before settling on a former dairy farm at Lebrina in the Pipers River region, planting the classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier on deep volcanic soil. Nearly 40 years on, Clover Hill remains one of only a handful of Australian houses making sparkling wine exclusively by the traditional method, with a multi-vintage house style built on freshness and consistency that's picked up trophies at the Tasmanian Wine Show as recently as 2026.

Pipers River & Pipers Brook

About the region

Established in 1974 by Dr Andrew Pirie, Pipers River and Pipers Brook is the region that put Tasmanian sparkling wine on the map. A climate that mirrors Champagne, hilly terrain, and some of Tasmania's most prestigious producers come together here to create sparkling wines of extraordinary finesse. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are just as at home, producing wines of real depth, complexity and cool climate elegance.
